FALLUJAH, Iraq (April 18, 2008) An Iraqi Soldier looks into the chamber of an M-16 A2 service rifle to ensure its clear of any ammunition during the testing phase of the M-16 A2 Service Rifle Maintainers Course here. Ten Iraqi Soldiers were selected by their command to go through this course, making them the first to participate in the RMC for their unit. As an incentive to complete the course, the Soldiers were given armorers tools that were specially made for them in order to perform their new jobs. This three-day course was developed because of a need for Iraqi Soldiers to learn how to maintain the weapons they receive from U.S. forces. The objective is for these Soldiers to become armorers for their units and share the knowledge they received from the Marines.
